Located in Devon, PA, Devon Preparatory School site on 40 wooded acres 20 minutes west of Philadelphia. The school was founded from a 1900’s mainline property by repurposing existing carriage houses, stables, gardens, and residences. The last of the untouched original buildings was a neglected caretakers cottage, located on the rear of the campus. The cottage was re-imagined as a new creative suite containing a robotics, fabrication, and media laboratory. The project gutted the entire 1900’s interior configuration and inserted new lab space, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. The building is now fully equipped to serve as the school’s media and robotics technology department. Modern finishes and lighting complement the open lab spaces, indicative of the school’s academic direction. In addition to resurrecting the building, a fully landscaped campus quad was developed to create a new outdoor space for students.
