BIKE is a central public amenity that serves the bicycling population of Philadelphia. BIKEʼs primary intent is to gradually repurpose vehicle surface lots with bicycle resource centers, neutralizing void heat islands in the city fabric with public green space and dense urban bike storage.
BIKE sets the following project goals: adopt a green strategy by repurposing surface lots for green space, locate central to public transportation and tourist destinations, accommodate future growth to account for a rapidly expanding bicycling community, propose future bike lanes and extensions of existing lanes, and finally, act as a functional billboard to self-promote bicycle usage in Philadelphia.
